A Large and Brightly colored bird of the pheasant family, The Male - Peacock - is predominantly blue and has a fan like 'train' feathers which bears colorful eye spot. These feathers cover sixty percent of its body length. The Peacock has a Symbolized beauty, regality and pride and attracts the female - Peahen - by shaking its feathers.

Each of Peacock Train feathers has an eye spot at the top that adds to the exotic dimension to the plumes. These spots appear blue, green and golden the the naked eye, but in actuality, these have black pigments. It's the different angles of nano particles within those fibers that reflect the sunlight to create iridescence. In rare cases, the Peacock my be born Without any pigmentation and appear to be completely white in Color.

Every Year, towards the end of summer, Peacocks Shed Their feathers as they tend to wear out and lose their functionality over time. This Process of shedding feathers is called Molting. The Process of biological change is similar to that a snake shedding its skin. After the mating process, the hormones change and from there starts the Molting process which allows for the energy required to grow back these feathers. In about seven months' time, Peacock Grows Back their plumes for the next mating season. During the mating season, Peacocks shake their plumes and dance excitedly to lure a peahen, who will be strolling around him. This mating dance is called shivering.

Together the Peacock and the Peahen in a group are called peafowl and though a peacock is a wild bird, it can be easily domesticated. Different peafowl have blue, green, white and light brown color, but India's Blue and green bird is the most common. In India, a Peacock is not only a protected national bird, but is also considered sacred within the Hindu Religion.
